Between 70 million and 100 million Americans have a criminal record which is approximately one-third of the country’s population.

Since 2017, Second Chance Month has been observed in the United States during April in a nationwide effort to raise awareness regarding the collateral consequences of a criminal conviction and provide second-chance opportunities for formerly incarcerated people working to re-enter society and become contributing community members.
