SAN FRANCISCO –The Bay Area Air Quality Management District will honor SF Goodwill for the Spare the Air Leadership Award on Wednesday, May 22, at the 2019 Acterra Business Environmental Awards in San Francisco.

SF Goodwill demonstrated significant leadership in reducing air pollutants to win the honor. Their electric truck pilot project has deployed eleven zero-emission battery electric heavy-duty trucks to serve Goodwill’s facilities within San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin counties. The project will reduce approximately 0.12 tons of ozone precursor and diesel particulate matter emissions, and an estimated 135 tons of greenhouse gas emissions in neighborhoods annually. In addition to these direct air quality benefits, as the first of their kind of electric trucks demonstrated in the nation, this pilot project demonstrates the viability of wide scale deployment of zero-emission technology in medium- and heavy-duty trucking. The Spare the Air Leadership Award winner will be celebrated alongside other environmental leaders from across Bay Area at the Acterra Business Environmental Awards ceremony. Media are invited to attend.
