Goodwill SF Bay Updates

By Ijeoma Emeh

Recently, Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay made some difficult but necessary adjustments to our existing footprint. While these decisions are never easy, they are intended to better position the organization for future growth plans in the coming years.

Part of these adjustments included the closure of a few stores and donation centers, as well as the Oakland warehouse and two administrative offices.

Additionally, a few career services locations will be consolidated, though GSFB’s career services programming will remain. We will continue to offer training courses and career services at no-cost to those in the community who benefit from these vital resources.

All of these updates are intended to allow our organization to serve the local community more efficiently while also setting up GSFB for future growth opportunities in the Bay Area. We are actively working to secure and open new, future retail store locations that will reflect larger, more efficient operational spaces and an enhanced shopping and donating experience for our communities.

We are grateful for the support of all of our local team members, as well as everyone in the community who shops and donates at Goodwill. Purchases and donations to Goodwill support our mission services, of which our career services served 3,600 individuals last year, providing those facing barriers to employment with the skills required to succeed in the 21st-century job market.

While we are reducing some operations today, these updates will better position our organization for future growth and continued services to our communities in the Bay Area.
