The Power To Do Good

By Ijeoma Emeh

Earth Month reminds us to take better care of the planet, but at Goodwill SF Bay, sustainability is something we live every day. This Earth Month, we encourage you to Keep it Moving. That means keeping items out of landfills by giving them a second life through donating, purchasing, or repairing. It means seeing value in what already exists and choosing to participate in a more circular economy where things don’t just end, they move on.

When you shop secondhand at Goodwill, you do more than find great deals or unique pieces. You’re reducing the number of items that end up in landfills and supporting our mission of providing jobs and job training for your neighbors in need. If you don’t like it anymore, don’t toss it, donate it, and keep it moving.

And if something’s broken or worn down? Don’t count it out. Visiting your local repair shop can turn a loose heel, a torn seam, or a stuck zipper into a fresh start. Supporting neighborhood repair businesses not only helps keep your favorite items in use but also reduces your environmental footprint.

Repair, reuse, donate, and thrift. When you choose secondhand, you’re not just making a personal style choice, you’re making a sustainable choice that helps power job training and career opportunities right here in the Bay Area.

This Earth Month, and every month, let’s keep it moving—because nothing should go to waste when it still has the power to do good. To find a store and donation center near you, visit our store and donation pages and get to reducing your environmental footprint.

Happy Earth Month!

Sustainability.
