You’re Invited to SFGoodwill’s E-Truck Fleet Launch and Expo!
Goodwill of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin has successfully deployed 11 (Class 6 & Class 8) Electric Trucks (E-trucks), converting half of its fleet of diesel trucks to electric. This demonstration project is a partnership among BYD Motors, Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), California Air Resource Board (CARB), BYD Motors and Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE). CARB funded the project through California Climate Investments to address climate change by reducing greenhouse gases, while also investing in disadvantaged communities. BYD Motors is the manufacturer of the heavy-duty trucks, the first of its kind being demonstrated in the U.S.
Expected impacts are a reduction of over 135 tons of GHG emissions and nearly 1.2 tons of criteria and particulate matter (PM) emissions over the lifetime of the vehicles. A successful outcome of the project will demonstrate that these tested E-trucks are indeed viable and capable of meeting the demands placed upon them in a dense urban environment, therefore helping to move the dial forward for widespread market adoption of heavy-duty E-trucks.
