Goodwill of San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin Counties now has a new home at 750 Post Street. Our headquarters—a two-story 1914 Spanish revival building between Leavenworth and Jones housing our administrative offices, a retail store, a Microsoft Makerspace, several learning labs, and a career center—puts us back in the heart of San Francisco where we belong. We want to better serve people most in need of our services and our new location physically exemplifies our mission statement: we create second chances through training and the dignity of work.
As part of our mission, San Francisco Goodwill develops programs and initiatives with a focus on digital skills to meet the specific needs of people with barriers to employment—specifically for military veterans, ESL populations, people with low education and skills, and justice-involved job seekers. We have several initiatives to address the needs of these two groups—and beyond. SF Goodwill’s training and career center includes:
The Goodwill Microsoft Makerspace
We offer a career pathway focused on preparing individuals for careers in technology by teaching them how to build out our recompute line of business, which tests and refurbishes donated electronics. The space will host workshops and training specifically for this initiative.
Learning Lab 1
Dedicated space focused on our mission advancement work where we offer career services and training for individuals with barriers to employment.
Learning Lab 2
A second dedicated training space that will offer our cutting-edge training programs that leverage partnerships with leading tech companies like The Goodwill/Google IT certification program. This is a blended learning model with Google’s in-house IT certification program with an in-person cohort experience in an online, self-paced class.
Goodwill provides 1:1 services to job-seekers with barriers to employment. We have helped more than 6,600 individuals since 2018, resulting in more than 700 job placements. At 750 Post, we will have an allocated space to work with jobseekers so we can offer them individualized intake and assessment tests and be able to better serve their needs.
