Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties is a nonprofit social enterprise that opens doorways to jobs for local people in need. That’s been our mission for almost 100 years.
Ask anyone who works here. A job at Goodwill will be tougher and more rewarding than anything you’ve ever done. It’s about more than taking home a paycheck or making a profit. It’s about being a part of a positive force that’s helping to transform individuals, families, and communities through the power of work.
More than half of the people working at Goodwill today are current or former participants in our job-training programs and services. Helping those around you reach their full potential by teaching them what you know is a part of every working day at Goodwill.
We hold ourselves responsible to a “triple bottom line” of People, Planet, and Performance.
- Since the start of the current recession, more than 2,000 people got jobs thanks to Goodwill, and last year we readied 7,000 to join the workforce and hosted 46,000 visits at our career center. This performance was made possible by our Employer Engagement, Assessment, Counseling, and Training & Development teams.
- Often called the original recycler, we divert over 20 million pounds from local landfills every year, enough to fill 15 football fields. Our Donations, ReCompute, and Salvage teams are responsible for this environmental success story.
- Our eCommerce, boutique, family store, and salvage businesses are thriving, with year-over-year gains in revenue for the past 7 years. This growth has been made possible by a newly mechanized warehouse logistics and transportation infrastructure. Meanwhile, Goodwill continues to innovate and develop new businesses that train and employ tomorrow’s workforce.
